Something Old, Something New

Nashville Fashion Week - Find Out #WhyNFW

Nashville Fashion Week is a world class event that I have made one of my annual trips.  This year the fashion was taken to the streets.  The runway shows were held in the middle of 5th Avenue in collaboration with the art galleries there for a night of art inspired fashion.  Check out pictures from the shows, and some fun shots of attendees.

SKif International opened up the shows with splashes of colors, and hints of details that were more than aesthetically pleasing.  The company is St. Louis based so perfecting comfy knits for those frigid winter months is something that I'm sure…

SKif International opened up the shows with splashes of colors, and hints of details that were more than aesthetically pleasing.  The company is St. Louis based so perfecting comfy knits for those frigid winter months is something that I'm sure their local customers are thankful for.  I also love the versatility of the line, and although, the knits slightly resemble a burlap (at best described by me), the sweaters looks great when paired with almost anything.

Samantha Pleet "best in show" for the night for me.  I loved every single thing about this line, from the dreamy "otherworldly" prints to the practicality of the pieces.   I loved that the designer  sent a variety of pieces down the runway - rompers, jumpers, capes, coats, and dresses.   A little something for everyone with classic silhouettes.  The pieces were figure flattering, with a hint of sexy.

I had the privilege of catching up with Samantha, and trying on some pieces from the collection at her pop-up shop at Local Honey a few days after the shows.  She is such a sweet being.

VauteCouture was a line that I took a great notice to mainly because I could see myself wearing every piece of clothing at some point during my day to day.  The vintage inspired mini dresses and the bold opaque tights, with a hint of girly sparkle are my style signatures, and the designer, Leanne M. Hilgart did a fantastic job of creating these items.

Although I didn't get to opportunity to do a full interview with Leanne (just yet), she was gracious enough to take a picture. There's a very interesting story behind Vaute and its production and mission, and I will cover it more in detail later on the blog.
