Something Old, Something New

Just Keep Adding Layers

Hey guys in this post, I am showing you all how to just add a few layers to make the most of a look.  Here in Memphis, this winter has been particularly milder than most, so I haven't had to worry with wearing a heavy coat. Chunky knitwear, blazers and jackets have been my essentials.

In this look, my first layer is a sleeveless turtleneck.  Sleeveless is always a viable option for starters because it helps to alleviate bulkiness that may occur from adding the layers.  Next I added, a thin denim jacket.  Again, going with a thinner jacket option will help with the final aesthetic of the look.  Everything will look seamless and effortless, and not forced or bulky.

Lastly, I topped everything off with a super chunky knit cardigan.  The cardigan is absolutely perfect for cozying up, and making a statement.

With my birthday just around the corner I wanted to share some of my current favorite things, in the form of "in a perfect world" birthday outfit.  Since crossing the big 3-0 threshold a few years ago, there won't be much planning and partying this year, but hey a girl can still look her BEST on her BIG day.

Candy Cane Jane

Happy Holidays guys!!! I'm sticking to my love for black and white in this post with a generous splash of color.  The jumper dress is incredibly old, I bought it maybe 10 years ago.  However, it managed to hide in the back of my closet, avoided being donated to the Goodwill.

When I initially came back across this dress, I can't lie I thought hideous, but honestly at one point in my life this was my absolute favorite dress.  I loved the color and print, and the fact that it bubbled at the knees was a trend that I died for in 2005.  I figured since I once loved this dress, I could surely modernize it a bit making it work for my style and taste now.  And that's what I did.  I added a black and white striped sweater, a choker (which is very in style at the moment), and a pair of brogues.  What do you guys think??
