Something Old, Something New

Ruffles - Gingham Edition

Basics have become my place of comfort in my wardrobe as of late.  However, my personality always manages to shine through.  Here is my take on basics with a fun flair displaying ruffle details in the mini skirt, and the pop of color on my lip and bag.

I managed to score this skirt during H&M summer sale.  I got it discounted for only about $10.00.  Talk about excitement.  I have always been such a fan of gingham print, but after trying on several styles in tops I found that it didn't suit me.  However, I couldn't resist this little cute skirt.  One thing I wanted to point out about the skirt is that I went up a few sizes because I needed a bit more length.  I urge you guys to not be set on wearing a certain size in clothing.  I tried the skirt on in size 2 (my normal size); however, I couldn't bring myself to wear a micro mini.  The skirt in my actual size didn't look age appropriate, nor was I comfortable.  So the shop assistant gladly brought me in larger sizes, and I was much happier with skirt and how it looked on me.

Bright Whites - Pleated Maxi skirt

Summer days are surely upon us, and that simply means it's time for bright whites.  I could wear white all year round...correction, I do wear white the entire year, but for the folks that don't - the time has come.

I bought this skirt for an editorial shoot I did a few weeks ago, and I knew then that I would be keeping it for myself.  Not only did the skirt fit my brief perfectly, but I thrifted it for only $1.00.  I started to think of the countless ways one could wear a maxi length, pleated skirt, and trust me guys there are limitless ways.  I styled it here with a structured tweed top I bought from H&M, and a simple pair of lilac slingback flats,.  I wanted to keep things clean and quite simple, especially since the temperature on this particular day was rounding 80 degrees.

Oh and I added my favorite sunnies, and a vintage pair of geometric shaped gold earrings, and my look is complete.  Catch you guys in my next post.  Until then pop your head in a thrift store, and pick up something old, to pair with your something new.

More Vintage Guys!!!

One thing you all know about me is that I am a vintage lover; hence the name of the blog - Something Old, Something New.  Recently, I scored a few pre-loved vintage pieces from a family friend.  In this post I am wearing a dress that actually looks like 2 piece top and skirt, but in actuality it's a dress.
