Something Old, Something New

Doing Something Different

Hey Lovelies!!! In this post I wanted to mix it up a bit.  I tried a new hairstyle, and I tried mixing prints and textures with my outfit.   Also, I wanted to see if it was possible to transition these bright red print pants into fall.

A lot of you have been my readers the entire time I have been on my natural hair journey,  and it has been quite the ride.  Although I don't talk about hair often, it's a some thing that always at the front of my mind.  Hair is a pretty big accessory to a women so we like for it to be in check.  This bun style has been when that I have seen a lot of naturals wear, so I wanted to try my hand at it.

Just Add a Cardigan...

As I promised a few post I would style this little summer coral dress for the fall.  Over this past weeks the temps have been dipping into the low 60s at night, and like most of you i am not ready to bid my dearest summer adieu.

The easiest way to transition summer pieces into the fall is to simply add a layer.  I achieved this look by taking the simple sundress and pairing it with a cardigan.  Secondly, another way to ease into the colder months is by updating your make-up.   Rather you prefer the deep berries, blackish purples or nudes lipsticks, putting away the bright pink and corals will help you embrace the change.

SOSNU Thrift Shop

...and now the fun begins.  This past weekend I did my very first popup thrift shop.  Something Old, Something New is venturing into new lanes, and I couldn't be happier.  In conjunction with Memshop's Soulsville Saturday day market event and the City of Memphis Innovation team, I was given the opportunity to try my hand as a small business owner.

My outfit of choice had to be bright, colorful and scream Something Old, Something New.  I wore a vintage thrifted shirt and a pair of jogger jeans from H&M.  I wanted to be very comfortable and cool, but still very cute and personable.

After a long, yet gratifying day I am pretty pooped.  I couldn't be happier with the outcome of the pop up.  I would like to thank all my family, friends, and co-workers for the support.  To the Memshop staff - you guys are stellar.  See you next month!!! FYI the next Soulsville Saturday is October 25.
