Something Old, Something New

Let's Transition - Winter Me Down

In this post, I want to show you all an outfit that I transitioned from summer into winter.

I purchased this beautiful, bright print culotte jumpsuit from Topshop on sale during the Labor Day holiday.  Actually when I bought it the weather was already starting to become a bit chilly, so I started thinking of ways to winterize the jumpsuit.

Initially, I thought the easiest way to wear the jumpsuit in winter was to add tights with boots and a turtleneck, which still may be; however I didn't have boots and turtlenecks in the colors I thought would look best with outfit.  So instead of wearing this at the height of winter, I waited and wore this look on a warmer day.

Layering is the key to transitioning any summer item of clothing into fall and winter.

Basic Bleu

I have unapologetically been into monochrome as of late.  I don't really know if it's my personal style evolving or if the amount of stress in my personal life is causing me to subconsciously streamline my wardrobe.  I do, however, know I love it and it makes me happy so that's how i'ma roll for now.  Now onto the outfit, I am wearing shades of BLUE...with a hint of teal.

I scored this blouse at the Goodwill for a few buck, and I paired it with my Banana Republic stretch jeans.   Pictured below, as you can see I am sporting these super cute beaded bracelets from Joseph Nogucci.

When It's Cold Outside

Last week the temperatures dropped down into the low 40s, and we Memphians nearly froze to death.  Fortunately for me I got the chance to wear my "chicago dress".

This dress was given to me by my best friend during a visit to Chicago (in May), and it literally snowed and sleeted the entire weekend I was there.  Of course I hadn't packed clothing for such frigid temps, but thankfully Ash has a tons of cute, warm clothes that I can fit into.  This dress is probably the single warmest item of clothing that I own...besides a coat.  It's a completely ribbed cable knit maxi, with a chunky cowl neck.
