Something Old, Something New

Best in Vintage with Buffalo Exchange

I spent a few days in Nashville last week, and during our down town I made a mad dash for the vintage shops.  Although I would never want to permanently reside in Nashville, there are tons of  work opportunities and the shopping is actually A-1.

I popped into the local Buffalo Exchange because they have some of the best vintage in town.  I also love that this place is 100% Green, meaning they have donate most proceeds to charity and they are environmentally friendly.  The store is set on a buy, sell or trade premise,  so they are simply reselling gently used current fashion items at a price that's undeniable.  They also have a vast selection of high end and vintage pieces.  I feel like the vintage buys are the best in town.

This beautiful, bright red orange coat dress immediately caught my eyes.  I was drawn to the color, but then I was sold on the texture and heaviness of it.  And I guess I couldn't leave out that it was only $11.00.

I paired my vintage coat dress with my all time favorite pair & Other Stories metallic wedge sandals.  Look a little closer and you see that I am sporting a super cute pair of Berkshire anklets.  These ankle socks are so on trend, and perfect for seasonal wardrobe transitions and adding texture and additional elements to a look.

Say hello to our new family dog, Flex.  He's the smartest Belgian Shephard puppy that you will ever meet.

Seasonal Layering

Do you guys remember that one warm day we had a few weeks ago - well that was this particular day.  The weather was nice and divine, the trees were blooming and everything just seemed right in the world.  Since then Spring has gone on what seems like permanent Spring Break, but let's not dwell on that fact.  For now, we can either reminiscence on warmer days, or pray for more to come.

One of our photographers wanted to go shoot in a nearby park, and I was happy to oblige.  He's a fantastic photographer that shoots with a Canon (my preferred camera brand).  Canons agree with my melanin, so I knew that despite the bright sunlight and the random, deserted backdrop these pictures would be bomb.

My outfit is pretty relaxed.  I'm wearing some old black silk BCBG joggers, and a thrifted striped silk blouse layered over another striped shirt.  I figured I would flex my styling muscles a bit.  Spring is my favorite transitional season because it's perfect for layering.

Safe Places in Leather

Guys, I had the most insane thought a few moments ago...I actually considered starting a new blog anonymously .  For some strange reason I felt reservations about being completely transparent on this platform.  Honestly, I felt an inkling of fear about being myself and sharing here on my very own blog, but why?? Especially since I've been blogging for 5 years.

If you know me personally then you know that I am incredibly accommodating, so in my mind, I thought that maybe since this is a fashion and style blog that you guys wouldn't be interested in hearing a rant or talk about my personal development.  Over time, as I've gotten older, I have done quite a bit of psychological work to become this strong mind individual.  And although, I may seem detached and rather reserved when interacting with others, I am very in tuned with myself.  Please let me know if you would be interested in more personal content, along with outfit posts.  I want this blog to be a safe place for all of us to share our amazing style, as well as personal testaments.  Overtime, I learned that on the surface we may seem different, but we are all really similar and share many of the same struggles.  Here's to knowing a little bit more about the sharply dressed young lady in all of these photos.

Outfit time:::  I'm sporting one of my favorite vintage blouses.  I just love the elegance that the pussy-tie bow gives.  This blouse is also 100% silk, and feels absolutely amazing on my skin.  I know I thrifted it years ago, but I can't recall from where.  I do, however, know exactly where this awesome pink leather skirt is from.  I bought this beauty in the Zara sale many years ago.  I would like to add that you may never know the many outfit options a pink leather skirt can provide until you own one.  The possibilities are endless guys.  I vote pink as a new neutral.
